Notice on the suspension of the consular legalization service at the Embassy of the PRC in Slovakia

2023-10-24 22:29

On March 8, 2023, the People's Republic of China acceded to the Convention on the Abolition of the Requirement of Higher Verification of Foreign Public Documents (Hague convention). The convention between China and Slovakia will enter into force on November 7, 2023.

Based on this, from November 7, 2023, the Consular Department of the Embassy of the PRC in the Slovak Republic will suspend the service of superlegalization of documents.

To use documents issued in the Slovak Republic in China, from the mentioned date, you will need a certificate = apostille. An apostille is a verification of the authenticity of a document, i.e. the signature and stamp on a public document for the purpose of its use abroad. An apostille is issued by the relevant authorities in the country in which the document was issued (examples of the authorities as well as the apostille can be found in Appendix No. 1).

The completion of the apostille does not automatically mean that the official document will be accepted by the Chinese side. We recommend that you check in advance with the office that will accept the document in China for specific requirements on format, content, time limit, translation, etc. of the required official documents before you perform the apostillation.
